- According to the ancient Georgian legend the name of Borjomi town comes from two words –«borj» (fortress) and «omi» (war). The wars happened often in old times, and Borjomi had a favorable location in a cleft. Mountains around it made up the fortress walls and on the flanks of the cleft watchtowers were built.
- Borjomi by its special medical composition and therapeutic properties equals the heeling water of the spring Vichy-Grande-Grille in France and Silesia spring in Germany. . There is good reason why yet 100 years ago the resort in Borjomi cleft was called in Europe «Russian Vici».
- The first attempt of producing bottling was made in far 1850. At that time pharmaceutist of Borjomi military hospital Zaharov pored mineral water in 1300 bottles and exported it.
- In 1900 producing of Borjomi mineral water exceeded 1 million of bottles per year for the first time.
- In 1980«Borjomi» water became the first trade name, whose whit-red label gained total recognizability among consumer on the USSR territory. Daily up to 1 million of half-liter bottles were sold and the annual volume made up peak 400 million bottles. Borjomi became not only the most popular water but a part of the whole country.
- Nowadays Borjomi is bottled from the same spring as it was in 1890 and makes route in 2000 km to the Ukrainian consumer from the Georgian port Poti to Illichevsk by sea.
- The specific blue-green color of the «Borjomi» bottle is patented and has its own title– Georgian Green.

- By natural criteria «Borjomi» counts more than 1500 years and its mineral composition remains stable. This fact is approved by the laboratory researches held since 1890.
