Borjomi Production

Borjomi is a unique occurrence of carbon dioxide sodium bicarbonate mineral water. Each drop of water from Borjomi spring is priceless. That is why, aimed at preserving of water mineral composition, in 2006 The State Committee on Georgia mineral deposits reserves approved production volume of 561000 liters per day for the period of 2006-2031, what gives possibility to produce more than 1 000 000 bottles of the world famous mineral water every day.

At present, all 9 production holes in Borjomi cleft work as well-springs, what means that the amount of produced water is reproduced in natural way. Carbon dioxide pushes the mineral water out to the ground surface through these holes, which depth comes up to 1500 meters.

Borjomi Bottling

The mineral water received from the holes is passed through 25-kilometers pipeline, built with high quality stainless steel, to the bottling factories. There water is settled, cooled, filled with nature carbon dioxide, bottled and afterwards labeled.

Nowadays 2 bottling factories are functioning in Borjomi city: the first is specialized on Borjomi pouring in glass bottles, and the second – in plastic bottles. During last 10 years the factories were completely reequipped and modernized. Due to it the factories are leading in industry both in production and in application of innovation technologies.

High qualified and experienced staff, the most modern European bottling line and correspondent to international standards producing process make up flawless quality of mineral water under «Borjomi» label.

Control system and standards

Borjomi bottling is proceeded with automatic technologic lines. Their working capacity allows processing of all the volume of produced water. Both factories and water, coming from holes are periodically examined according to the approved procedure of control of product quality. The modern chemical and microbiological laboratory deals with these tasks. The analyses are held according to the directives of Eurocommission on quality of drinking and mineral water.

For hydrogeological monitoring of Borjomi occurrence the services of the local and international experts such as - Gamma (Georgia), Zenith Consulting (Great Britain), Antea (France), and SGS Institute Fresenius (Germany) are used. The samples are regularly sent for the external laboratory analysis in Tbilisi and importing countries.

«Borjomi» quality control system allows controlling of producing process on all stages – from production to bottling and delivery. Besides it completely corresponds to the standards ISO 22000 (the most modern system of product secure and quality evaluation system), and «Borjomi» itself became the first mineral water in CIS and Baltic countries, which gained the quality standard ISO 22000.
